Computational Clearing for High-Contrast Imaging

THUNDER uses a proprietary Computational Clearing (CC) algorithm to remove out-of-focus blur in real time. This is not available in the standard DMi8.

• Benefit: Sharp, clear images from thick samples like tissue sections, organoids, or 3D cell cultures.

• Standard DMi8: Captures all light, including out-of-focus light, leading to lower contrast and less detail in thick specimens.

Real-Time Image Processing

The THUNDER DMi8 integrates powerful GPU-based processing for real-time image enhancement.

• Benefit: Immediate visual feedback without the need for time-consuming post-processing.

• Standard DMi8: Requires additional software or post-acquisition processing for comparable results.

Enhanced 3D Imaging

While both models can capture z-stacks, THUNDER optimizes these for clarity using CC, allowing more accurate 3D reconstruction.

• Benefit: More detailed analysis of 3D structures and spatial relationships in tissues.

• Standard DMi8: Z-stacks contain significant blur without deconvolution or confocal-style optics.

Improved Signal-to-Noise Ratio

By filtering out background haze computationally, THUNDER delivers much cleaner images, even with low-expressing fluorophores.

• Benefit: Better results from weak or photobleached signals.

• Standard DMi8: Background light can mask subtle signals.

Optimized for Live-Cell and Large-Scale Imaging

THUNDER is particularly well-suited for live-cell imaging, tissue imaging, and fast workflows.

• Standard DMi8: Can image live cells, but without the real-time clarity enhancements of THUNDER.
