Testing performed by our in-house service team:
The Formulatrix Tempest V3.1 Liquid Handler passed all tests and was found to be fully functional:
- We checked that the system successfully powered on and completed the initialization sequence.
- We established software communication and ensured that all components responded without errors.
- We verified the independent channel control of each channel.
- We ran the system’s prime and wash procedures to confirm smooth and consistent fluid flow.
- We verified fluid retrieval to ensure it accurately drew the specified volumes from the reservoirs.
- We checked for accurate fluid dispensing, confirming that actual dispensed volumes matched programmed values.
- We tested and confirmed variable volume output across the full dispensing range, validating both accuracy and repeatability.
- We tested plate detection by loading multiple plate types to verify the system’s accuracy in recognizing plate presence, orientation, and compatibility.
- We verified the plate carrier’s X and Z-axis movements, ensuring they were smooth and precise over the full range.
- We verified the dispenser head's Y-axis movement, confirming it was smooth and correctly aligned over the wells.
- We performed a full system performance test, simulating an end-to-end workflow to ensure cohesive operation across all functions.

Do you have a Formulatrix Tempest V3.1 Liquid Handler on hand?
- This is a common model, and we generally stock multiple instruments, accessories, and many replacement parts to back up our warranty.
I found it elsewhere for less. What goes into your price?
We acknowledge that sometimes you can purchase this model instrument elsewhere, possibly for less.
Here are some of the reasons for our price.

This procurement is for a University or College. Are purchase orders with NET terms accepted?
- If you are a US or Canadian customer, we are likely already a registered vendor in your University's vendor system. This would greatly expedite the process of PO approvals and get this instrument into your lab faster.
- POs are accepted from US and Canadian universities.
How fast will you ship?
- We can ship within a few days to two weeks. Shipping time depends on the current demand for our instruments. Members of our sales team will be able to offer current delivery estimates.
Will my instrument be insured during shipping?

How do you pack? Have you packed and shipped Formulatrix Tempest V3.1 Liquid Handler Instruments in the past? Do you ship Internationally?
Packing
- Most larger instruments ship in fully enclosed ISPM15-certified wooden crates with proper padding underneath, and the sides have moving components braced.
- Accessories are packed safely in boxes with padding and then safely packed inside the crate.
- We may not use a crate for local deliveries to save you money *if delivered by us.
- We often use “tilt’ & “shock” indicators on the crates to ensure the crate has not been excessively tilted and dropped where equipment may suffer damage.
- Photos are taken during the packing process to make sure nothing is missed.
USA/Canada Shipping
- Within the US and Canada, we will ship via selected freight carriers. We do not use low-price/high-damage carriers as we want the equipment to get safely to you.
International Shipping
- Internationally, we will only ship via Air Freight or Air Parcel (such as UPS or DHL), which provides reliability, no exposure to Ocean weather, and timely delivery.
We have extensive experience packing and shipping fragile instruments globally.
Our experience and process
- We have safely packed and shipped thousands of sensitive analytical instruments.
How much will I save buying it pre-owned, and is it worth it?
A lot…and it is undoubtedly worth it, and here is why. Feel free to ask for feedback from hundreds of customers who bought from us.
- You will pay less than half vs. buying a new instrument. Why not spend leftover funds on another instrument for your lab?
- You will get our standard warranty, plus, when available, an option to obtain an extended warranty agreement.
- Know that your instrument was tested and working the day it left our facility and is covered if there are faults.
- Get extra peace of mind by adding an extended warranty or service agreement when such an option is available.
Sustainability
- Well, this one is easy: buying a pre-owned instrument is great for the planet; you are reducing unnecessary waste, CO2 output, and water use that would be used during the manufacturing process.
I have more questions; I want to receive a formal quote.

We understand that every instrument has unique packing and shipping requirements; our team understands that no one wants to spend tens of thousands of dollars and receive a damaged instrument.
Our process involves evaluating every instrument to determine the safest shipping method and the best process for packing.
We generally ship parcels either via UPS or via freight for all larger instruments.
Whenever we ship freight, we use an ISPM-15 wooden crates or pallets made from ½” plywood and 1x4 framing. (Our crates are Internationally Compliant). On freight shipments, we also use dense foam, which provides excellent cushioning and support for the instrument. Instruments then are safely braced inside the crates. We use solid boards with 1” foam shrink-wrapped around them, which provide cushioning in all directions and hold instruments firmly in place.
Final step is to we photograph everything inside the crate and then seal it with screws.
