Purchasing a Pre-Owned or used microscope is a great way to save money and stretch your lab’s budget. When you purchase from Boston Industries, your pre-owned microscope is backed by our Boston Industries warranty, giving you peace of mind right from the start. We understand that post-warranty, many laboratories prefer to have a reliable service partner without the high cost of service agreements, and this is where we come in.

We are now offering on-site, remote, and depot “Cost-Effective Post-Warranty Services” on the following microscopes:

Our Post Warranty Services Include pay as you go option and service agreements:

Depot service fees for US(continental) and Canadian customers: (this is a recommended option to minimize service costs)

  • Hourly Rate: Year 1 – $143.00 per hour rate subsidized(earn your trust rate). Year 2 and following years – Rate of $211.00 per hour
  • Discounted shipping rates and insurance costs: We have substantial discounted rates with UPS that we pass on to you.
  • Discounted Parts: Our Pre-Owned Certified repair parts are 50%- 80% less expensive than comparable new parts from the manufacturer and come with the same warranty.
  • Upgrades: We offer low-price upgrades from our listed inventory, often at prices 50%- 70% less than the cost of new.
  • Direct Cost for Parts: For parts we do not have in stock and have to source elsewhere, we will charge you the exact cost plus a 5% administrative fee.

Travel service fees for US(continental) Customers: 

  • Hourly Rate: Year 1 – $143.00 per hour rate subsidized(earn your trust rate). Year 2 and following years – Rate of $211.00 per hour. Travel fees each way will not exceed 1430.00 per day.
  • Onsite fees: Technician daily charge of $350 per day of the overnight stay (required when the technician is traveling over 2 hours each way)
  • Flight Expenses: We will provide receipts and charge the actual cost of the flight. You decide how quickly the technician shall arrive at your facility. (*subject to current technician demand)
  • Discounted Parts: Our Pre-Owned Certified repair parts are 50%- 80% less expensive than comparable new parts from the manufacturer and come with the same warranty.
  • Upgrades: We offer low-price upgrades from our listed inventory, often at prices 50%- 70% less than the cost of new.

Yearly Single and Multi-Year Service Agreements for US(continental) Customers: 

  • Preset yearly service agreement rates, inquire with your sales representative on their price (microscope model and configuration specific)
  • No cost for covered parts and repairs.
  • Upgrades: We offer low-price upgrades from our listed inventory, often at prices 50%- 70% less than the cost of new.

Please be aware of the following: Service agreements on microscopes are only offered as depot service.

  • Preset yearly service agreement rates, inquire with your sales representative on their price (microscope model and configuration specific)
  • No cost for covered parts and repairs.   
  • Upgrades: We offer low-price upgrades from our listed inventory, often at prices 50%- 70% less than the cost of new.

 

Extra Services:

  • Installation

 

  • Hourly Rate: Year 1 – An affordable rate of $150 per hour (travel, remote, on-site, depot), with a maximum daily charge of $1500 for travel.  Year 2 and following – Rate of $250 per hour, rest of the cost the same (once we earn your trust, we will do our best to minimize your service expenses)
  • Onsite fees: Technician daily charge of $350 per day of the overnight stay (required when the technician is traveling over 2 hours each way)
  • Flight Expenses: We will provide receipts and charge the actual cost of the flight. You decide how quickly the technician shall arrive at your facility. (*subject to current technician demand)
  • Depot Expenses: Actual shipping cost to and from your facility, plus $95.00 fee (administration cost to pay staff that will coordinate shipping back and forth along with providing you status on progress of your repair)
  • Preventative Maintenance and Verification service on liquid handlers: Choose a schedule and complete it along with a service visit to save on travel costs. 
  • Installation and Training: Standard rate, you decide if you need us on-site or prefer remote assistance.

Cost-Effective Part Replacements and Upgrades:

  • Discounted Parts: Get 60% off the new list price for replacement parts (pre-owned) and upgrades from our inventory vs new cost from the manufacturer.
  • In-stock liquid handling carriers are sold at 60% off the new cost found on testmart.com or 10% off our listed price, whichever is lower.
  • Direct Cost for Parts: For parts we do not have in stock and have to source elsewhere, we will charge you the exact cost plus a 5% administrative fee.

On-Site, Remote, Depot service types:

  • Remote Service: We do our best to minimize our technicians' travel time so that we may save you on repair costs. If you are willing to help us troubleshoot, we may be able to save you days of downtime to get the instrument operational.
  • On-Site: We understand that your staff may have other priorities or lack the necessary training to assist us with remote repair/diagnostic. In this case, we will schedule a technician to travel to your site to perform diagnostics, service, and repair at the above-mentioned rate.
  • Depot Service: We recommend our depot service for smaller instruments. We will provide you with a return case or a custom shipping box, clear instructions on how to take apart the instrument, and only ship items that may need repair back, thus greatly reducing your service costs.

    Installation and Training Services:

    • Installation and Training: We offer on-site or remote installation to accommodate your staff and eliminate any potential damage concerns during the instrument's initial setup.
    • Instrument Training: We help your team members get comfortable with the instrument and expedite placing the instrument into service. (Training will also help protect your instrument from damage caused by operator error.)
