Configuration and Setup:
This system is setup with dual 96-well 200ul multiprobe heads. Each arm has its own set of microplate grippers.
This configuration allows for very customizable method creation while maximizing plate movement around the deck.
With the addition of the wash station this system is capable of reusing the disposable tips without the concern of cross contamination of samples or reagents.
The video begins with a full view of the Beckman Coulter Biomek FXP Liquid Handler. The camera pans in to show the method created for this demonstration.
Once the program is started the deck is then brought into view. The demo begins with both 96 heads loading disposable tips from their separate tipboxes.
Once loaded the right head moves to the reservoir at position 10 and aspirates 200ul of green distilled water. The right arm then moves to the empty microplate in position 9 and dispenses all 200ul into the wells.
Next the left arm with tips loaded moves to the reservoir at position 2 and aspirates 200ul of yellow distilled water. At this time the right arm has moved to position 10 and is aspirating 200ul of distilled water.
The left head then dispenses the 200ul of yellow distilled water into the microplate at position 5. The right head then dispenses the 200ul of distilled water into the microplate at position 7.
The left head then moves to the reservoir at position 1 and aspirates 200ul of blue distilled water. The right head then aspirates 100ul of distilled water from the microplate in position 7 and transfers it to the microplate at position 8.
At the same time the left arm is aspirating 200ul of blue distilled water into the microplate at position 3. The left head then moves to position 5 and aspirates 100ul of yellow distilled water and aspirates it into the microplate at position 6.
The left head then begins a unload and load demonstration of the tips to show repeatably of the autoloader. The left head then aspirates 100ul of blue distilled water from position 3 microplate and dispenses it into position 6 microplate.
After a tip change the left head then performs a mix cycle of the microplate in position 6. The right arm moves out of the way while the left head moves to washstation and washes the tips.
The right head then moves to the microplate at position 9 and aspirates 100ul of green distilled water and dispenses it into the microplate at position 8.
The right head then performs a wash cycle before returning to position 8 to perform a mix cycle. The left arm then moves out of the way as the right arm aspirates 100ul from position 6 and dispenses it into position 4.
The right arm then unloads its tips while the left arm transfers 100ul of green distilled water from the microplate in position 6 to the microplate in position 4. The right arm then transfers a plate from position 7 and stacks it at position 9.
The left head then unloads the tips into the tipbox. The left head then transfers the plate from position 3 and stacks it on position 6. The left head then stacks the microplate from position 4 to position 8.
The video ends with a final full Biomek FXP Liquid Handler view.

Beckman Coulter Biomek FXP Liquid Handler Workstation (2) 96-well Arms w/Gripper
With its large deck capacity, the Beckman Coulter Biomek FXP Liquid Handler Workstation sets the standard for flexible laboratory solutions to meet your changing needs. It puts every aspect of liquid handling – including pipetting, dilution, dispensing and integration – into a single, automated system that is as powerful and flexible as it is efficient and economical.
Equip the high-capacity deck with Automated Labware Positioners (ALPs) suited to your application to create a dedicated workhorse system. Choose a 96- or 384-multichannel pipetting head, or opt for a pin-tool system for high-density replication tasks. The multichannel pod heads are easily swapped out for maximum flexibility and system reconfiguration as your needs change. A Span-8 configuration featuring independent well access is also available for tube-based operations and when flexible access to wells in a plate is needed.
With enhanced deck capacity and powerful Biomek software, this automated system ensures flexibility and speed for virtually all your applications.
The Beckman Coulter Biomek FXP Liquid Handler Workstation continuum starts with a single-pod system. Equip the high-capacity deck with Automated Labware Positioners (ALPs) specific to your research for a dedicated workhorse in your lab. Choose a 96- or 384-multichannel pipetting head or opt for a pin-tool system for high-density replication tasks. A Span-8 configuration featuring independent well access is available for tube-based operations and where direct access to wells in a plate is needed. All pods are easily swapped out for maximum system flexibility.
Two heads are better than one
A dual-pod system is the smart choice for busy labs. Choose a hybrid system (multi-channel and Span-8 pipetting pod) for maximum process flexibility. Perform hit-picking operations quickly. Replicate plates with a 96- or 384-well head then add reagents unique to each well with your Span-8 pod using tubes, plates or reservoirs.
Efficient plate replication
A dual multi-channel pod instrument makes fast and efficient work of filtration applications and plate replication tasks. A system with a 96- and 384-pipetting head can rapidly condense and replicate 96-well library plates into 384-well dilution plates. Use the HDR pin-tool head on one pod and a pipetting head on the other.
Scale up to a Biomek Assay Workstation
The Beckman Coulter Biomek FXP Liquid Handler Workstation can serve as the central component in a complete assay system including below-deck storage and labware access, incubation, plate washing, plate reading, barcoders and numerous other components. Powered by SAMI Workstation EX software, the Biomek Assay Workstation is ideal for ELISAs, cell-based assays or any other process involving time-critical incubations. Biomek Assay Workstations are tightly integrated to maximize capacity and throughput in a small footprint.
The Beckman Coulter Biomek FXP Liquid Handler Workstation is the right instrument for primary and secondary screening as well as all your replication and re-formatting tasks. Choose a pre-configured Biomek FXP system with validated methods, or outfit a system based on your unique needs. With an extensive selection of quality peripherals and automated labware positioners, and a comprehensive library of third-party devices, the Biomek FXP delivers all the performance you need to automate your research workflow.
